DANVILLE — Despite a change to medical office uses at the site, the town still will consider a smaller portion of Crow Canyon Executive Park for zoning changes that someday could let it accommodate low-income housing.

There was no formal vote at Tuesday’s joint meeting, but consensus between the Town Council and Planning Commission was to study about 2 acres on the west end of the 5-acre site at 1320 El Capitan Drive.

The decision on this parcel north of Crow Canyon Road disappointed neighbors who fear that traffic, crime and other problems could follow if housing is allowed.

Neighbors thought a plan announced last week to turn the site into medical offices starting this fall would remove it from consideration for such uses. However, town officials said some plans for the site, such as a surgical center to be added in a few years, are further out and could require additional review. Until that is solidified, the decision was that the town should continue studying the site.
