Danville Chamber president resigns, moves to Oregon
Melony Newman served 8 years as organization’s CEO

Melony Newman, the Danville Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, has resigned after eight years in the post to move to Portalnd, Oregon. Office Manager Debra Long will step in as interim CEO until Newman’s successor is chosen. “It has been a pleasure to serve the community and the chamber,” Newman wrote in her farewell letter. “It is with mixed emotions that I can no longer continue.” In a letter to Long, Newman said her health took an unexpected turn in July. “I have had to make some changes in my life…I will adjust at some point but the position at the chamber needs a healthy and strong leader able to give 100 percent,” she wrote.
